The Dodgers traded Valera together as Yusniel Diaz Dean Kremer, Rylan Bannon along with Zach Pop, to the Baltimore Orioles for Manny Machado on July 18 in 2018. Valera played in 12 games for the Orioles and was 10-for-35, with a triple as well as four RBI before breaking his index finger during the 6-3 loss in Yankee Stadium on September 23. Valera was assigned to be assigned on January 4 of 2019, when the Orioles took Austin Brice off waivers.
Valera was designated for assignment on March 28, 2018.
On September 20, 2019, he was selected off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays from the New York Yankees and in his fifth game with the Blue Jays, on September 29, 2019, hit his first career Major League home run in an 8-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Valera was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in May of 2010. Valera started his pro debut for the Venezuelan Summer League Cardinals. He began his 2014 season with the Palm Beach Cardinals and was elevated to Double-A Springfield Cardinals during the following season. Valera started the 2016 season as a member of The Springfield Cardinals and was then transferred to the Memphis Redbirds, where he hit a total of .304 between the two teams.
The Cardinals also added Valera to their roster of 40 players following the 2016 season.
