Brett Steven Maher (born 17 April 1973) is an Australian professional basketball player who retired. He played his entire 17-year career for the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL) from 1992 until 2009. Maher also played for Australia in The 2000, 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympic Games and the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, as well as the 1998 FIBA World Championship.

In the year 1994 Maher had been regarded to be one of best NBL guards. And with the addition of league’s 1995 winner Robert Rose to the 36ers roster and the team, currently under the direction of the former NCAA head coach Mike Dunlap was set to play in their initial Grand Final in eight years. But unfortunately to Maher along with the 36ers, they were defeated by 2-0 during the Grand Final against the North Melbourne Giants. Maher averaged 16.5 scores, 5.5 board and 2.5 assists throughout the series, while averaged 13.3 pointsand 4.4 rebound and 3.1 assists throughout the course of the season. The second game of The Grand Final at The Glass House in Melbourne was the only game of his career Maher could ever be a victim of.

During his career Maher also won selection for the Australian Boomers at the 1998 FIBA World Championship where the team finished in 9th place. He also represented Australia at the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympic Games helping the Boomers to 4th in Atlanta and Sydney and 9th place in Athens. In all, Maher played over 100 games for the Boomers and had the honor of captaining his country at the 2001 Goodwill Games.
