Brent M. Rathgeber (born July 24 1964) is an author, lawyer as well as a politician in Alberta, Canada. He was an Alberta Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 2001 to 2004 and appointed to the House of Commons of Canada during the federal election of 2008 as an Conservative. He removed himself from his position in the Conservative caucus on the 13th of December 2013 and was elected as an Independent. He was an Independent candidate for the St. Albert–Edmonton during the 2015 federal election however, he was defeated Conservative incumbent Michael Cooper.
Rathgeber is a native of Melville, Saskatchewan. After graduation at Melville Comprehensive School in 1982, Brent obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Saskatchewan.
Rathgeber blogged in 2012 that voters complained to him about the limousine expenses of Tory cabinet ministers when he travelled to Saskatchewan for a funeral.
