Brendon Lade (born 10 July 1976) was a former Australian rules footballer for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is currently an assistant coach in the senior ranks for St Kilda Football Club.

After completing the 234 games of his AFL professional career back in 2009 Lade quickly joined Richmond Football Club to take on the role of Ruck coach. He was joined by the former Port Adelaide teammate Damien Hardwick who was Richmond’s head coach. Lade was later promoted to midfield stoppage coach and was in this role until the end of the year and then came back to Port Adelaide as an assistant coach for the 2017 AFL season. The end this season Lade was back in Melbourne to take on the role of Assistant Coach of St Kilda Football Club, following two seasons with Port Adelaide.

In 2004, Lade enjoyed a fantastic year as he led the club’s hitouts stats even in the absence of injured Port Adelaide ruckman Matthew Primus and was second in the goalkicking competition behind Warren Tredrea, and capping it off with a first-place medal in the year that Port Adelaide won its first AFL premiership, beating Brisbane Lions. Lade is a native of Kangaroo Island. He played football in the early years at the regional Western Districts Football Club, where his father was the coach of the A grade team. When he was 8 years old, Lade moved to Wisanger Football Club, where he continued to play his football career up to the age of 16. The ability to play as a forward and a ruckman to relieve, Lade played for South Australian National Football League club South Adelaide before his recruitment to Port Adelaide in the lead towards their first campaign in the AFL in 1997. Lade made his first senior AFL debut at Port Adelaide in Round 1 1997, which was the first Port Adelaide AFL match.

Lade only missed one game during his initial three seasons, but the injury to his leg was serious. injury in the second round of 2000 that forced him to miss for the remainder of the season.
