Brenda Shinn (born January 1 1962, in Redondo Beach, California) is a famous American shooter in the sport. She took home the gold medal in air pistols for women in the 2009 USA Shooting National Championships in Fort Benning, Georgia, and finished seventh in the same division during the 2010 Championships of the Americas (CAT Games) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Shinn began her sporting career at seventeen. She began shooting with the Orange County Sheriff’s Explorer program. Shinn won at the age of eight the National Police Explorer Pistol Match and was then invited to participate in training in the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at which point she switched from shooting with two hands in the .38 class to air guns. When she was in 1982, Shinn was ranked eleventh in her division during the USA Shooting National Championships, and then became a part of in the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Pistol Team which she shot for three consecutive years as a highly respected master. Shinn had to stop shooting competitively in 1987 when she had her first child, her sole son K.C.

After the birth of her son, Shinn worked full-time as lieutenant in The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at Jurupa Valley Patrol Station. She received her degree from Chapman University in 1998 with the bachelor’s diploma in the field of criminal justice and in 2002, with a master’s in leadership for organizations.
