Durst was born in St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho in 1980. He was raised in the south of Boise and attended public schools . He was the third generation of graduates from Boise High School. Durst was involved in soccer club as well as wrestling, baseball, DECA, Young Life and other church-related activities.

In 2010 Durst was a candidate for the vacant seat on the Idaho Senate in the southeast Boise district that was left vacant by Kate Kelly, but lost to Republican Mitch Toryanski by 103 votes. A co-candidate Democrat Janie Ward- Engelking was a candidate to fill Durst’s House seat, but was defeated by nine votes to Ellsworth.

On November 20, 2013, Durst submitted his resignation from the Idaho Senate effective December 1, 2013, to Gov. Butch Otter. It was found out that Durst was splitting his time between Boise and the Seattle area, where his family had relocated. He was succeeded by Ward-Engelking.

The year 2008 was the time that Durst was one of the most targeted members from Durst’s Idaho Republican Party. This led 5-term Idaho legislator Julie Ellsworth to challenge Durst. Ellsworth had previously lost in 2006, lost to Democrat Phylis King. Durst beat Ellsworth by 51/49.

Branden John Durst (born on January 15, 1980) is a former center-right, prolife, Evangelical Christian politician from Boise, Idaho. His birthplace was Boise, Idaho. Durst was the state of Idaho’s 18th Legislative District in the Idaho Senate from 2012 until 2013. He was previously the state’s 18th Legislative District in the Idaho House of Representatives from 2006 to. until his resignation in December 2013. he was the youngest senator in the Idaho Senate. Durst reside in Boise, Idaho.

Durst began his campaign for Idaho Legislature during the year 2006, when he contested incumbent Debbie Field. Field was also tasked with the role of the campaign manager for the gubernatorial election for C. L. “Butch” Otter. Durst was the winner of the race with just 176 votes.

In January 2012 Durst announced his intention to run against Toryanski again. Durst defeated Matthew Duncan in the Democratic primary with 77.1% of the vote.
