Braden Alec Shipley (born 22nd February 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is part of the Kansas City Royals organization. Shipley was a student at his time at the University of Nevada, Reno where he was a member of the Nevada Wolf Pack baseball team. Before that, he was a student at North Medford High School in Medford, Oregon, and was a part of the school’s baseball team. It was the Arizona Diamondbacks selected him with the 15th selection of 2013. He was selected in the 2013 MLB draft and the team made his MLB debut in the year 2016.

Shipley has committed to attending Western Nevada College, until coaches from the University of Nevada, Reno baseball team watched Shipley during the Josh Anderson Memorial Tournament in Reno, Nevada. Shipley accepted to go to Nevada on a full scholarship where he could play in the NCAA baseball team of the Nevada Wolf Pack. In his first year as a freshman, Shipley was named to the All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) second team for shortstop. He only pitched 10 innings in the WAC season because of the team’s shortstop shortage. In his junior and sophomore years during his time at Nevada, Shipley has focused on pitching and has had only 12 bats. Shipley received his WAC player of the year honors as a sophomore, pitching to a 9-4 record in wins and losses and an impressive 2.20 earned run-adjusted (ERA). Shipley also played collegiate summer baseball with The Anchorage Bucs of the Alaska Baseball League.

The Diamondbacks promoted Shipley to the major leagues to make his debut on July 25, 2016. After limited action in 2017 and 2018 he was outrighted to AAA on November 20, 2018. He elected free agency on November 7, 2019.

On December 17, 2019, Shipley signed a minor league contract with the Kansas City Royals.

As an underclassman, Shipley was added to the Golden Spikes Award watch list. Shipley was regarded as to be among the top prospects for 2013, the MLB draft. Baseball America ranked Shipley the eighth most promising prospect, and Keith Law of ESPN.com predicted that he’d be selected from the seventh to 15th overall picks. Shipley was the first first-round selection within Nevada Wolf Pack history.

Shipley was a student at North Medford High School in Medford, Oregon. He started pitching in his junior year, but was not the star of his team’s pitching team. He played with Medford Mustangs. Medford Mustangs in the American Legion Baseball and led teams to winning an appearance in the American Legion World Series.

In August, the Diamondbacks promoted Shipley to the Mobile BayBears of the Class AA Southern League. Shipley spent the 2015 season with Mobile, and the 2016 season with the Reno Aces of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League.
