Holman was selected in Holman was drafted by Kansas City Royals in the 35th round of the 1990 Major League Baseball Draft out of Auburn University Montgomery. He played in 17 games for Low-A Eugene in the 1990 season however he was released on the 29th of March the 29th of March, 1991. On April 7 he joined Seattle Mariners. Seattle Mariners and was assigned to High-A Peninsula. For 47 matches, he posted an overall record of 6-6 and had a 3.22 ERA. Following his start in 1992 with Peninsula and then being moved to Double-A Jacksonville. In 1993 Holman made his debut in the major leagues following his debut with Cannons from Triple-A. Holman was not a part of the major leagues until 1994, and was a part of the Colorado, Seattle, and Baltimore’s minor league system in 1995.
Holman was a coaching professional when he began with the Mariners team by serving as pitching coaches for the Low-A Wisconsin in 2002. He continued in the position until 2004. The year 2006 was when he served as an assistant pitching coach at Double-A San Antonio, and for Double-A West Tennessee in 2007. He also worked as pitching coach for the Double-A Altoona Curve in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. In the off-season 2008, Holman signed an agreement to the Texas Rangers organization to coach for the Single-A Hickory Crawdads where he coached from 2008 to 2010. In 2011, he was appointed an assistant pitching coach with single-a Myrtle Beach Pelicans where he was a coach until 2012. After that, he was elevated to pitching coach in Triple-A as part of the Round Rock Express where he worked from 2013 to 2015.
