Allan Mark “Boff” Whalley (born 1 January 1961) is a English musician and writer from England. He was previously the lead guitarist of the anarcho-punk band and folk group Chumbawamba The band is now a playwright as well as the creator of the Commoners Choir who released their debut album in March of 2017.

Together with fellow group members Chimp Eats Banana; Midge (Michael Hartley) and Danbert Nobacon, he relocated to Burnley in 1981 to Leeds in 1981. He attended Leeds’ University of Leeds, dropping out after a year and entering the South View House squat in Armley. At this squat that he first became part of the Anarchist group that later became the group Chumbawamba. The group in the early 1980s was a hardcore punk rock band with the look of DC Punk, or LA Punk. In 1984, as it was announced that the British coal industry had been privatized by Margaret Thatcher’s government , and members of the National Union of Mineworkers began protesting, Chumbawamba became even more politically involved in issues of equal rights and labor rights. He began playing guitar despite his claim to be with “limited ability”. It was his passion to continue playing the guitar and sing while working in various other tasks including shopworker deliveryman, typesetter and cartoonist.

In 2013, he wrote a musical drama “Wrong ‘Un” which was performed in Norwich. It was based on the life of suffragette Grace Marcon.
