Perry is currently employed by his current employer, the University of Kentucky Healthcare system located in Lexington, Kentucky. Perry was appointed head coach for the West Jessamine Middle School basketball team within Nicholasville, Kentucky in early 2009. He was in the guard position for the Bluegrass Stallions, formerly of the American Basketball Association and was awarded the second team All-ABA award for the 2009-2010 season.
Perry was part of the Kentucky 2006 NCAA Tournament. In the first round Perry led eighth-seeded Kentucky to victory over the ninth-seeded UAB with an all- time high of 25 points. The game was notable in the sense that this was the very first game that the two teams played since UAB was able to pull off a one-point win against heavily favored Kentucky at the end of round two of the 2004 Tournament (Perry was a non-existent substitute for the game). Perry also played a crucial role in the loss against the top seeded UConn. Perry was able to finish the game with 14 points and 45 rebounds on 61.9 percentage shooting. He also had an unbeatable 14-14 at the free-throw line.

Bobby Perry was part of Kentucky’s recruiting class of 2003, being recruited by Coach Tubby Smith. He was an ex- Mr. Basketball North Carolina who graduated from Hillside High School in Durham, North Carolina. Perry played only a small amount of time during his initial two seasons, but towards the close of his sophomore year Perry became an early player taken off the bench, playing in either the forward position or taking over the role of Kelenna Azubuike and Chuck Hayes. After the departures of both athletes, Perry was able to take over the primary power forward position.
The only remaining player from his recruiting group, Perry was a key player during the 2006-2007 season. He concluded his career at Kentucky with a team- high of 21 points as Kentucky lost in the second round of Kansas during the first round of 2007’s NCAA Tournament.
