Robert “Bob” Harras (born January 11 1959) is an American comics editor and writer. He was editor-in chief of Marvel Comics from 1995 to 2000. He is currently the editor-in-chief for DC Comics.

On September 27 the 27th of September in 2010, DC Comics named Bob Harras as its new editor-in-chief and vice president. Harras is in charge of editorial across the entire range of DC Comics, DC Universe, MAD Magazine and Vertigo publications. He was the first editor-in-chief of DC following Jenette Kahn, who been the editor from 1989 until 2002.

After his departure from Marvel, Harras joined WildStorm as a contributing editor on November 15th in 2001. Harras was based out of the New Jersey home office, and was a subordinate of Jim Lee, WildStorm’s editorial director. Up until the end of September in 2010 Harras served as the editor group of DC Comics collections, and editor for DC’s brand-new Who’s Who series.

Harras began working at Marvel as an assistant editor for Ralph Macchio, where he was involved in such books like The Saga of Crystar, Dazzler, ROM, U.S. 1, and Micronauts. Then, Harras was chief editor of Marvel’s X-Men and Midnight Sons lines. Harras was also a writer for a variety of comics, such as a run on The Avengers that ran between 1992 and 1995, and the top-selling 1998 limited comic Nick Fury vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. His brief appearance on Namor the Sub-Mariner from 1992 to 1993 was a first in its time in that it was an almost entirely standalone epic of Tolkien’s style.
