Blake Edward Hawksworth (born March 1st 1983) is a coach for baseball also a the former Major League Baseball pitcher. The pitching instructor is at Grand Canyon University. He played in the NCAA baseball tournament in Bellevue Community College in 2002 and also professionally with the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers between 2009 and 2011.

Hawksworth was struck on the face close to his mouth, by an outfielder’s line drive Sam Fuld, and crumpled to the ground in an incident in September of 2010. Hawksworth left the field on his own strength and was taken to the hospital. The injury required about 20 stitches and ended his season.

In two seasons with the Cardinals, he appeared in 75 games, starting 8 of them. His overall record was 8–8 with a 4.07 ERA.

He was born within Sammamish, Washington, and was selected in the 28th rd. of Eastlake High School in 2001 by the Cardinals. He played one season playing baseball for Bellevue Community College (now simply Bellevue College) before signing with the Cardinals as a draft pick and later as a follower. Prior to his time at Bellevue Community College, Blake played for a number of years in the organization of Bill Caudill for the Mercer Islanders and Fox Sports. After two stellar season in the Minors Blake was recognized by Baseball America as the Cardinals most promising prospects in 2003. However, injuries restricted his ability to pitch in just nine games between 2005 and 2004. But, he was back to his best in 2006 when he was 11-4 with an ERA below 3 in the division between two teams: the Palm Beach Cardinals and the Springfield Cardinals. The year 2007 was the last time he was a player in Memphis Redbirds. Memphis Redbirds and ended the season with a disappointing record of 4-13 with an 5.28 ERA. In 2008, he finished 7-5 with an 6.09 ERA.

He made his MLB debut on June 6 in 2009, pitching for 2 IP with 4 runs, 3 hits , including the home run, walked 1 and striking out 1. Even so the fact that his debut was viewed as positive due to his outstanding pitch control. The Cardinals were optimistic about his future because he was among the best young pitching talent.

Hawksworth began feeling tenderness and discomfort in his elbow during the offseason and underwent elbow surgery in early January 2012. This injury caused him to be placed on the 60-day disabled list at the start of the season. He began a rehab assignment in June but was shut down after a couple of appearances due to shoulder soreness. On August 23, he underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery, which ended any chance he had to return in 2012 and the report from the team was that he might also miss the 2013 season as a result of the recovery period. On October 12, 2012 the Dodgers outrighted him to AAA and removed him from the 40-man roster. On October 17, he elected to become a free agent.
