Skari also took home the women’s 30km race in the Holmenkollen ski festival in 2003. She also won the Holmenkollen medal (shared with Adam Malysz and Thomas Alsgaard). His father, Odd Martinsen, earned the Holmenkollen medal in 1969. They are the sole father-daughter pair to have ever won this prestigious award.
In addition, she was awarded 5 gold and silver medals (5 km 1999 10 km 2001, 2003 and 15 km 2001 2003) at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships along with two silver (4 5 km relay 1997 2001) medals. She was the overall winner of the Cross-country ski World Cup four times before taking a break after the 2003 season.

She was awarded her first Olympic medal in 1998 and she won the first medal of gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics, coming from behind to defeat the favorites Olga D’Nilova and Julija Tchepalova in the final kilometers of the 10km classical race.
