Beatrice Weder di Mauro (born on August 3rd 1965) is a Swiss business and academic who is currently the professor of economics in the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva as well as Distinguished Fellow-in residence in the Emerging Markets Institute of INSEAD Singapore as well as a Senior Fellow with the Centre for International Governance Innovation. Since 2018, she is the President of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).
From June 2004 until the year 2012 she was a member from the German Council of Economic Experts. It was her first time as a woman and first non-German member of the council, whose role is to provide advice to on the German administration on financial matters. The council has advised ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and the current Chancellor Angela Merkel. She is also as a member of the board of several large companies, including UBS, Bombardier Inc. and Robert Bosch GmbH. Her main research interests are international macroeconomics, with a focus on the financial crises global capital flows sovereign debt, financial regulation growth, development, and. She has been published in a variety of prominent academic journals, and she writes regular articles and contributes to public policy debates.
Weder di Mauro was elected to the Board of Directors of UBS AG. in 2012 and after the restructuring in 2014, she became a member of the Board of Directors of UBS Group AG. She has been member of the Audit Committee since 2012, a member of the Risk Committee from 2013 to 2017 and became a member of the Corporate Culture and Responsibility Committee in 2017. Since March 2013, she has been on the Supervisory Board of Robert Bosch GmbH. and since May 2016 on the supervisory board of Bombardier Inc. . She currently is Deputy Chairman of the University Council of the University of Mainz, a member of the ETH Zurich Foundation Board of Trustees and a member of the Bellagio Group since 2014.
Weder di Mauro served as consultant for various international organizations, including the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank, the IMF, the United Nations University, the European Central Bank the OECD Development Centre and the European Commission. In 2016 she participated in the Bilderberg conference in Dresden, Germany.
From 2002 until 2004 she was an active member of the Swiss Federal Commission on Economy in Bern in August 2004 to 2012 she was a member of the German Council of Economic Experts. Weder di Mauro is an associate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) since 2003. She is also a senior fellow at the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER) in Singapore from 2016.

Weder di Mauro spent most of her growing up with family members in Guatemala before relocating to Switzerland at age 16. From 1971 until 1980, she attended the German high school located in Guatemala and, in 1984, received her high school diploma in Basel. The differing standards of living between Switzerland and Guatemala led to her curiosity in economics. Later, she enrolled in the University of Basel, where she pursued economics. She graduated with an Doctorate of Economics degree in 1993. She then received her Habilitation in Economics in 1999.
Weder diMauro joined The International Monetary Fund as an economist in 1994. She also joined she joined the World Bank in Washington DC to be part of the team that produced the World Development Report in 1996. From 1997 until 1998 she was Research Fellow-in-Residence at the United Nations University in Tokyo as well as from 1998 to 2001, she was an associate professor of economics and finance at the University of Basel. In 2001, she was promoted to Professor of Economics Economics, Policy as well as international Macroeconomics within the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany.

(2010 to 2012) She chaired the Global Agenda Council on Sovereign Debt the World Economic Forum. and was a member if the Expert Group on Debt Redemption Fund and Eurobills of the European Commission from 2013 to 2014.
