Barbara De Rossi (born 9 August 1960) is an Italian actress who has paired an international film career and a long-standing popularity on Italian television.
At the age of 15 De Rossi was spotted by director Alberto Lattuada in a beauty contest. Her first film appearance was in Lattuada’s film Stay As You Are (1978) with Marcello Mastroianni, and Nastasia Kinski. She then played Virna Lisi’s character’s screen-daughter as a character in La Cicala (The Cricket) in 1980, also produced by the legendary Lattuada. The following year, she was Bradamante, the renowned female warrior on the TV show Hearts and Armour directed by Giacomo Battiato. In the late 1980s she was beginning to get parts that were English-speaking like the gorgeous Greek slave woman Eunice in the television miniseries Quo Vadis? and Claretta Petacci Mussolini’s lover on the drama docudrama Mussolini and I with the stars Anthony Hopkins (Count Galeazzo Ciano) and Bob Hoskins (Mussolini). In 1990, she portrayed Nys the Montmartre prostitute in Claude Chabrol’s film in French Quiet Days in Clichy, which is a dramatic adaptation of Miller’s semiautobiographical novel that is based on his life in Paris. She has appeared in films as well as theatre and television following her initial appearance for instance, acting in the role of Ray Lovelock in Raiuno’s TV film Marco e Giulia – Inviati Speciali (Mark and Julia Special Envoys).
