Baijayant Panda is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 12, 1964 in Cuttack, Odisha, India. Born on January 12, 1964, in Cuttack in the family of Pandas Bansidhar Panda along with Ila Panda. He attended the Michigan Technological University. With an education of Engineering and Management, he worked in the corporate world prior to becoming a politician. He worked with in the death of Biju Patnaik and then Naveen Patnaik, the man who established his own party, the Biju Janata Dal Party.

In December 2012 Australia was the first to lead the way in becoming the first nation to adopt a law requiring plain packaging for tobacco products. In a bid to learn from the Australian precedent, Panda introduced a Private Members Bill to the Lok Sabha to stipulate plain packaging for tobacco products. The Bill is aimed at increasing in size the warning as well as its accompanying graphics to minimum 60% of the back and front sides of the packaging. The bill also bans advertising to tobacco in stores or shops i.e. on the spot of sale.

Baijayant “Jay” Panda is an Indian politician. He is the national vice- president and spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party. He was the Member of Parliament in the 15th and 16th Lok Sabha from Kendrapara.

In April, he pursued the matter further by visiting the brick kilns of Ranga Reddy district, Andhra Pradesh to get a first-hand account of the situation. Panda wrote an article on the depredation of poverty and governance challenge of treating the poor with dignity in life and in death.
