Her murder was committed by the brother of 21 years old Yuki Muto (Wu Teng Yong Gui , Muto Yuki) (born 1985) on the 30th of December 2006. Her death prompted media’s attention for the motives behind the murder.

The 12th of May in 2008 the prosecutors asked for 17 years of prison for Yuki and her psychiatrist said that he had reduced responsibility or was criminally insane. In May, 2008 the Tokyo District Court sentenced him to 7 years in prison and said that the defendant was insane when he cut her body up. In April of 2009 however it was the Tokyo High Court revoked his original sentence, and sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment.
