Ariel Darvasi (Hebrew: AryAl Drbsy, February 17th 1962 – September 28 September 28, 2018) is Professor of Genetics and was the former Director of Life Sciences Studies and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
In 2004, the company ended its official operations and the intellectual property of the company was transferred to Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In the past Darvasi also founded numerous biotech firms in Israel as well as the US.
In March 2017, Darvasi was under investigation by the SEC (Security Exchange Commission) for suspicion of alleged insider trading of Mobileye shares. The case was settled with a fine and no conviction of any wrongdoing
When he was a student scientist, He was awarded his first prize, the Landau Prize. In 1999, it was one of Israel’s top honors for science.

Darvasi received the BSc degree (with distinction) from the departments of Biology in 1988, and Computer Science in 1988, as well as his MSc degree (with distinction) as well as an honors PhD award (summa in of laude) on Genetics at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem under the supervision by Moshe Soller. In the following years, he was a postdoctoral researcher in The University of Paris.

Between 2006-2009 Darvasi was Head of Genetics Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and then Head of the entire Life Sciences curriculum until 2012. From 2012 to 2016 Darvasi served as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of The Hebrew University.
