Arianne Caoili is one of the most popular and richest Chess Player who was born on December 22, 1986 in Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines. Arianne Bo Caoili (“ae r” in: o: KAU aU’I L i: Kah-WEE-lee, 22 December 1986 until 30 March 2020) was an Australian-Finnish chess player. She was awarded the FIDE title of Woman International Master, won the Oceania women’s chess championships in 2009 and participated at seven Women’s Chess Olympiads. In addition to the game of chess, she worked as an expert in finance and was advisor to Armenian premier Karen Karapetyan.

She was fluent in English and Tagalog well, and done her Ph.D. at an German university, focusing on “Russian foreign policy, especially its economic and business relations with Armenia on a state and individual level”. She was an advisor for a major consulting firm. In 2013 through her demise at the age of 50 in 2021, Caoili was a resident and worker in Armenia.

Caoili died on 30 March 2020 of injuries from a car crash into a bridge pillar in Yerevan, Armenia.

In 2004, Caoili moved chess federations around in order to be a representative of Australia. The year 2009 was the time she was the winner of the London Chess Classic Women’s Invitational competition with a score 8/9, two points in front of the second-placed player. The identical year Caoili took home the Oceania Women’s Zonal Championship and consequently qualified to compete for the Women’s World Championship 2010. But she didn’t take part in the competition.

From 2008, Caoili was in a relationship with one of the world’s top chess grandmasters, Levon Aronian. They first met in 1996, at the World Youth Chess Championships in Las Palmas, and became friends in 2006, being introduced by their mutual friend Alex Wohl. Aronian and Caoili became officially engaged in 2015 and were married on 30 September 2017 at the 13th-century Saghmosavank Monastery, with then Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and his wife Rita Sargsyan in attendance.
