After receiving his first education at Kurseong located in Darjeeling District, Anand moved to Delhi. He graduated from Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi in 1996. Thereafter he did is B. A. (Hons) with a degree in Economics in Economics from Delhi University prior to pursuing the PGDBM (Post Master’s Degree in Management) in the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi (2000 -2002).
The writing career of Anand began with the publication Pillars of Success (2004) Self-help guidebook that has its roots in Anand’s college times with UNES, a Delhi NGO in the city, UNES. In UNES’s Youth Development Program of UNES, Anand delivered lectures on aspects of personal development to students in schools across the country . It was the lessons he learned from these experiences that he distilled in his first novel. Since then, Anand wrote general-fiction as well as the novels of historical fiction. His columns and articles have been published in various important publications, with among the most notable ones is his monthly column entitled Corporate Whispers that is which is published within Suburb Live magazine. Anurag has written an original song, called Bhaga that is the title track for his novel – to Hell and back (2018). The song was written and performed by the renowned musician Ram Sampath. It is one of the very first occasions where a theme song is released as part of the promotion for a book.
In 2016 Anurag was conferred with the Lal Bahadur Shastri Award for Corporate Excellence to commemorate his contributions to the society and the spirit of entrepreneurship through his achievements in the corporate world. The award was presented by Air Chief Marshal S.K Sareen, former Indian Air Force Chief and Anil Shastri former Union Minister.
