Anuradha Ghandy is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on March 28, 1954 in Mumbai, India. Anuradha came from a previous generation of communists Ganesh Kumud Shanbag and Ganesh who were married at Mumbai at the CPI Office in Mumbai. They were part of the party until mid-1950, but it had not yet made the leap into the current Maoist as well as Marxist factions. Ganesh became a member of the Defence committee, and volunteered to assist in the trials which were filed against communists. She was among the most prominent leaders in India during the post-emergency period at the time it was when the Committee for Protection of Democratic Rights was formed. Anuradha died of causes related to falciparum malaria on 12 April 2008. Systemic sclerosis had weakened her immune system, leading to multiple organ failure, which was, among other things, responsible for her bad handwriting. It was during her stint in Jharkhand, educating the tribals against oppression of women in their society, when she contracted cerebral malaria. During her final days, she had been training the women cadre to develop leadership skills.
In her obituary to Anuradha who she had been friends since the time that he was still a student in college back in 1970, Jyoti Punwani wrote “‘The Naxalite menace’, says Manmohan Singh, ‘is the biggest threat to the country’. But I remember a girl who was always laughing and who gave up a life rich in every way to change the lives of others”.

Anuradha Ghandy (28 March 1954 – 12 April 2008) was an Indian communist writer, author an activist leader and writer. She was a part of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist). She was involved mostly in the field of propaganda and also in the CPI’s uprising into urban areas. She was among the founders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) in Maharashtra.
The 1970s were a time when Elphinstone College, Mumbai was a center for extreme left-wing activists. Anuradha played a major role. The things she saw in refugee camps in war-ravaged Bangladesh as well as the famine-stricken areas of Maharashtra in the past is likely to have drawn her closer with social services. After that, she joined the Progressive Youth Movement (PROYOM) which was where she became got involved in the then-Naxalite Movement. She participated in The 1975 Dalit Panther Movement.
