He last had a stint with Zalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). He played in the NCAA basketball tournament on the campus of Texas A&M University.

Prior to signing with as a member of the Aggies in the 2005-2006 season Kavaliauskas was a summer player in Lithuania’s Lithuanian senior national side. He was the captain of the team to a silver medal in the FIBA Under-21 World Championship in Argentina and scored nine points and five rebounds in a tight 65-63 win against Greece in the final game. He also took part as a player in his part in the Lithuanian Junior National Team’s bronze medal performance in the Global Games in Dallas, Texas and the only loss they suffered was against Team USA. In the bronze-medal game, Kavaliauskas scored 22 points and had seven rebound.

In 2007, Kavaliauskas started his pro career in Greece, playing there for two seasons. In 2009, he moved to Italy where he played next two seasons.

On Selection Sunday, however, the Aggies were rewarded for their regular- season play with a Number 3 seed in the South region of the 2007 NCAA Tournament.
