Anna Tibaijuka is one of the most popular and richest Economist who was born on October 12, 1950 in Muleba District, Tanzania. Anna Kajumulo Tibaijuka (/t i I : b aI DZ U K ae / ; born on 12 October 1950) is a Tanzanian, CCM politician and member of the Parliamentary Assembly for Muleba South constituency since 2010. She was Secretary for Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Developments from 2010 until 2014.

In 2004, the British premier, Tony Blair, invited Tibaijuka to join the ranks of his Commission for Africa, which was created by Blair to come up with strategies and initiatives to speed up the growth of Africa and ensure its development. The Commission composed of 16 world-renowned figures was completed with its report in March of 2005.

The steering committee of the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council elected Anna Tibaijuka as its new chair on 19 October 2010. Tibaijuka succeeded Roberto Lenton, whose second and final term of office ended in March 2011.

In the national election, held October, 2010, she became MP for CCM, Muleba District in Kagera Region.

The girl was born in Muleba, Tanzania, to small-holder farmers, Tibaijuka studied agricultural economics at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. She speaks fluently in English, Swahili, Swedish and French. The widow is previous Tanzanian ambassador Wilson Tibaijuka, who died in the year 2000. Tibaijuka is second highest-ranking African woman at the UN after Dr . Asha-Rose Migiro who is who is the deputy UN secretary general who is also an Tanzanian.

From 1993 to 1998 Tibaijuka was an associate Professor of Economics at the Dar Es Salaam. In this time she also served as an active member of the Tanzanian government delegation to a number of United Nations summits, including the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements ( Istanbul, 1996) as well as The World Food Summit (Rome, 1996) and The Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing 1995) and the World Summit for Social Development (Copenhagen 1995). In the World Food Summit in Rome she was appointed the coordinator for Eastern Africa in the Network for Food Security, Trade and Sustainable Development (COASAD). Tibaijuka is also an UNESCO board member since November, 1997. International Scientific Advisory Board since November 1997. She is also a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry.

In September 2000 her appointment was made as Secretary-General Kofi Annan as the executive director for the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements. In the first two years as director, Tibaijuka oversaw major reforms that led to being elected to the United Nations General Assembly upgrading the Centre to a status of a programme and changing its name to in the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT). Tibaijuka was elected by the General Assembly to her first four-year term as head of the new agency in July, 2002 and was given the rank of under-secretary-general, as the first and only African woman to reach this level within the UN system.

In June 2005, the secretary general appointed Tibaijuka as his special envoy to study the impact of the Zimbabwean government’s campaign (known as Operation Murambatsvina) to evict informal traders and people deemed to be squatting illegally in certain areas. As the evictions were concentrated on areas which had traditionally strongly supported the oppositional Movement for Democratic Change, many commentators believed the campaign was politically motivated. Although this was denied by the Zimbabwean government, there was strong international criticism.
