Strother was also a star in the classroom since she was an Dean’s List student all four of her four years at UConn. In December of 2006, Strother graduated from UConn with a psychology degree.
Strother was chosen to the team that represented the US in the 2003 Pan American Games. The team was defeated in their first game against Cuba and then bounced back to win the next five games, which included an overtime win over Brazil. The team then had to face Cuba to win the gold medal but fell short of 75-64, but they did win their silver trophy. Strother scored an average of 7.9 score per match.
In October 2007 Strother was hired as the director of basketball operations for the University of Colorado women’s basketball team, serving under head coach Kathy McConnell–Miller.
In the 2006 WNBA Draft, Strother was selected by the Houston Comets with the 15th overall pick before being traded to the Phoenix Mercury for Liz Shimek and Mistie Williams. Due to recurring foot pain and a Phoenix bench that was well-stocked with guards, Strother saw very little playing time in her rookie season. Strother played eight games with the Mercury as a rookie before joining the Indiana Fever in an off season trade for veteran center Olympia Scott. On February 6, 2008 Strother was selected by the Atlanta Dream in the expansion draft. She was waived by the Dream on January 14, 2009. During her stints with various WNBA teams, Strother has averaged just 2.0 points per game and 6.5 minutes per game in the WNBA over the course of her career through the end of 2008.
She attended Heritage High School for two years, and then moved into Highlands Ranch High School where she was a part of the basketball team achieve the two Colorado State Championships. Strother was named as a WBCA All-American. She played at the 2002 WBCA High School All-America Game in which she scored nine points. Strother was also selected to participate in the first (2002) McDonald’s All-American Game and received the honor of co-MVP. After her sophomore and freshman high school years, Strother played for a team that traveled in Paris during two weeks, to compete in the tournament. Strother was a member of the Athletic Amateur Union team and during her travels to tournaments she took advantage of her time attending schools that will later aid in her college choice. The summer before her senior year at high school, she was picked to be a part of the USA Junior World Championship Team (now called U19) located in Czech Republic. Strother was the top scorer in the victory against China and was the fifth top scorer in all of the games and helped the US to record a 6-1-0 record and the bronze medal. Strother was the only high school athlete to ever in USA Basketball history to receive the distinction of playing on the Junior World Championship Team, the other was Lisa Leslie in 1989. Geno Auriemma was the coach for the USA team in that year. Then she made the decision to join UConn. Strother has been named as the Naismith High School National Player of the Year during the senior season (2002) as well as also the 2001-02 girls basketball Gatorade National Player of the Year.

Ann Elise Strother (born December 11 1983) is an American basketball coach, as well as a former professional athlete who most recently played playing for the Indiana Fever. The player played at the college at the level of Connecticut Huskies, helping the team win two national titles.
