Angelika Niebler (nee Rupertseder; born on February 18, 1963) is an German politician and member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Germany. She is an active participant in the Christian Social Union in Bavaria and is a member of the European People’s Party.

Niebler later became later a CSU participant in the Federal Convention for the purpose to electing the President of Germany in the years 2004 in 2009, 2010, and 2012. In 2015 the Bavaria’s minister president Horst Seehofer appointed her one of his deputies to the role of CSU chairman, which made her a part of the party’s leadership. When negotiations began to form the fourth Cabinet headed by Chancellor Angela Merkel after the federal elections in 2017, Niebler led the working group on families along with Annette Widmann Mauz and Katarina Barley.

In early 2014, the CSU chose Niebler to be the party list’s number 2 for the 2014 European elections, following Markus Ferber. She later replaced Ferber as leader of the CSU MEPs after the party’s poor showing in the elections.

In addition to practicing law, Niebler has been a visiting lecturer on Intellectual / Industrial Property Rights (IPR) at the Munich University of Applied Sciences (HM) since August 2016.

In the run-up to 2003’s German elections, Edmund Stoiber included Niebler in his shadow cabinet to support his Christian Democrats’ campaign to remove the incumbent Gerhard Schroder as chancellor.
