She has been a highly successful youth and junior athlete, winning gold medals at the 2009 World Youth Championships and the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics. 1. Bengtsson placed tied 4th at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, China, having set a national record of 4.70 m in the final. She is also the current Swedish national record holder with 4.81 m, set indoor in Clermont- Ferrand, France, on February 24, 2019. She has won eleven national titles. Despite her young age she won the title of the nation’s senior champion during the Swedish Indoor Athletics Championships, overtaking her Swedish opponents by an impressive clearance of 4.30 meters. Bengtsson established herself as one of the best youth athletes during the 2010 European Youth Olympic Trials in Moscow in May. After winning the event her performance improved the world record for youth to 4.42 m , and then increased her performance to a 4.47-metre clearance of 4.47 meters. She tried to beat record for the Swedish records for seniors (raising the bars to 4.52 meters) but was unsuccessful in the three vaults. The score she achieved was sufficient to allow her to compete in the senior event of the 2010 European Athletics Championships, but she chose to concentrate in the lower age bracket competitions instead.

Angelica Therese Bengtsson (born 8 July 1993) is a Swedish track and field athlete who is specialized in pole vaulting. She was the first winner of the pole vault at the first Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore in 2010.

Based on her youth gold from last one, this year she added a gold medal in the2010 Junior World Championship in Moncton. While the windy conditions slowed down the speed of her performance however, a first-time clearance of 4.15 m secured her victory over older girls. She also added ten centimeters between her with Holly Bleasdale for a winning score at 4.25 meters. Her feats led her to be one of the top athletes competing in the very first Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. She deservedly earned her coveted status, winning the event with a record of 4.30 meters. Abandoning the Silke Spiegelburg the world record for juniors of 4.48 meters, Bengtsson went straight for the Swedish senior record. However, the record of 4.52 meters proved to be too high for the talented young athlete.

At the 2019 World Championships final, Bengtsson broke her pole in her third attempt on 4.80 m, thus having the right to re-take the attempt. She cleared that jump, which gave her 6th place in the competition, as well as a new Swedish outdoor record.
