Thompson was born in Pella, Iowa on February 8 1993. He relocated into Marietta, Ohio in 1971 and graduated from Marietta High School in the year 1981. The class he graduated from was Central College at Pella, Iowa in 1985. He worked for four years for the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a think tank for libertarians. Thompson was an associate of the National Rifle Association.

The wife of Thompson, Jade, is a Spanish teacher at Marietta High School. Thompson and Jade were blessed with three kids. He passed away on the 13th of May, 2020 at the age 57 after suffering an attack on his heart.

On March 13, 2013, Thompson proposed a measure which would effectively shut down Ohio’s healthcare exchange under Affordable Care Act by prohibiting any insurance company participating with the program from conducting any business within Ohio.

Andrew Miller Thompson (February 8 1963 until May 13 2019) was an American politician. He was an elected Republican Member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 95th district. It comprises Carroll, Harrison and Noble counties, as well as portions in Washington as well as Belmont counties. Prior to redistricting in 2012 Thompson represented the 93rd District for one term. He was a member of the Marietta City Council (2005-2011) and was co- publisher of the magazine of his family, Bird Watcher’s Digest.

Thompson was elected the first time for the 93rd district of the Ohio House in November 2010 He defeated Democrat Linda Secrest with 53.8 percent of the votes. Following the redistricting process, Thompson ran in the 95th district and beat Democrat Charlie Daniels with 52.83 percent of the vote.
