Andrew Lam is one of the most popular and richest Novelist who was born on April 1, 1964 in Vietnam, Vietnam. Vietnamese-American author who is known for his 2010 novel, “East Eats West: Writing in Two Hemispheres.” In 2013, he published “Birds of Paradise Lost,” a short story collection about the struggles of Vietnamese immigrants living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Lam left Vietnam with his family during the fall of Saigon in April 1975. He attended the University of California, Berkeley where he majored in biochemistry. He soon abandoned plans for medical school and entered a creative writing program at San Francisco State University. While still in school he began writing for Pacific News Service and in 1993 won the Outstanding Young Journalist Award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
Lam’s father, Lam Quang Thi, served as a general in Vietnam’s Army of the Republic. Andrew Lam gave a 2009 interview in which he disclosed that he is gay.
