Allen Sarlo is one of the most popular and richest Skateboarder who was born on January 9, 1958 in Venice, California, United States. American surfer Allen Sarlo was born January 9, 1958. He is most well-known as the founder of Z-Boys, a surf and skateboarding group. Surfing Magazine recognized Sarlo for being the first person to “kill” waves. He is known for his aggressive and brutal style of surfing, which he developed in the 1970’s. Many consider him “The King of Malibu”.

He married Deborah, his high school sweetheart in 1986. Their daughter was born in 1989, and their son in 1993.

Sarlo is featured in the 2001 award-winning documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys. The film documents his adolescence as part of the Zephyr and his athletically intense surfing style.

Allen was done surfing the Pro-Tour by the 1980s and had entered a career as a real estate agent.

Allen was raised in Venice, California’s Dogtown. His father was a lifeguard. Allen started surfing at age 5 and, by the time he was 13, had won his first competition in the boys’ section of an amateur event held in El Segundo (CA). He was 14 when he began surfing the “Cove” at Venice’s POP Pier. Allen won the Malibu 4-A contest in 1974 at 16 years old. Allen’s progressive style of surfing was far ahead of its time. It challenged the traditional style of surfing with powerful and aggressive wave maneuvers. Allen also won the West Coast Junior Championships that year. Allen had already been nicknamed “Wave Killer” by the media and was surfing all over the globe.

After winning the West Coast Junior Championships, Thompson joined the professional circuit in 1977. He finished 15th in his first South African event. Shaun Thompson would take the first place. In 2000, Sarlo was 5th at the Quicksilver World Masters in Hossegor (France). In 2008 and 2009, he won the Malibu International.

In June 1990, the cover of Surfing Magazine shocked the surfing community with a photo of Allen doing a bottom turn on a 20+ ft wave. Until that cover came out, big wave surfing was all about taking the drop and getting out alive. He performed stunt work for Heath Ledger in the 2005 Lords of Dogtown film.
