- She won gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics. This was the second ever gold medal from Australia’s winter Olympic. Camplin was third at the 2006 Winter Olympics to win a bronze medal. Camplin is Australia’s first skier to win consecutive medals at the Winter Olympics.
Camplin suffered a severe knee injury while preparing for the Turin Winter Olympics in October 2005. She needed a knee reconstruction. Camplin used donor tissue to speed up the healing process and was able to return to training within 11 weeks. To secure her spot in the team, she finished fourth in a World Cup event at Lake Placid.
Camplin announced her retirement from competition in July 2006. She intends to pursue interests in the media and in the ski travel industry.

Camplin, who is 157 cm tall, is an ex-gymnast. Camplin was educated at the Methodist Ladies College in Melbourne and holds a bachelor’s in information technology from Swinburne University of Technology. Alisa won two Australian National Titles as a teenager in the Hobie Cat class of catamaran sailing. Camplin was inspired by Kirstie Marshall’s example and approached the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia to learn more about the possibility of being an aerial skier.
