A-Love was A-Love’s first solo introduction to Australian hip hop and media circles in May 2002. She performed “Petty” from Culture of Kings Volume 2 (the very first Australian hip hop feature album ever on Triple J). Triple J placed “Petty” on medium rotation.
She was also nominated for two at the Jägermeister AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association) Awards in 2008, in the categories of ‘Best New Independent Artist’ and ‘Best Independent Hip Hop Artist’.

Hawthorn Secondary College was her college, and she graduated in 1999. Although her first musical experiences were with an all-female group, they never performed in public, she discovered hip hop at high school, and began to rap about it.
Formosa first met Draino of the Puah Hedz in January 2000. He was eager to see her writing and, despite her resistance, he allowed her to feature on a track. Muphin was her second ever track, later becoming “Some People”, which appeared on the album Despite the Odds. Since then, she has appeared on Triple J’s “The Hip Hop Show”, PBS’ “The Formula” (now called “Hittin Switches”), PBS’ “The Formula”, PBS’s [now] “Auscultation”, RRR’s Wordburner and RMIT University’s SRA FM. She was pursuing a Bachelor in Arts degree as Anthropology at La Trobe University. For two years, she was also the co-host of a hip-hop radio show at La Trobe University.
Formosa released her debut album, Ace of Hearts on 24 November 2007, on Crookneck Records. The album was produced by BVA (Mnemonic Ascent) with additional beats from Suffa (Hilltop Hoods) and Jase. Guests include Yungun (UK), Raph (Mnemonic Ascent), Spikey Tee (UK) and emerging indigenous MC Jim Blah. It was Triple J’s ‘Album of the Week’ just three days after its release and was nominated for the 2008 ARIA Awards in the category of ‘Best Urban Release’.
